Ford's develop soy-based seat


Ford car manufacturers are now promoting the technology and environmentally friendly features for all smelled products. One of them is a real example of seat foam made from pure soy. This project has been developed in some Ford car models marketed in the Americas.

For example the Ford Taurus, Mustang, F-150, Focus, Flex, Crown Victoria, Escape, Edge, Expedition and Econoline, and the Mercury Mariner and the Grand Marquis, Lincoln MKS, MKX, MKT. In fact, following the launch of the latest version of the Ford Explorer in 2011, Ford had been directly put these features in this SUV. .



Foam cushions that are a mixture of soy-based polyurethane and is apparently able to reduce pollution by 25 percent compared to using the seat base berbahaan regular foam. Use of this Ford soy foam, has saved at least more than 3 million pounds of petroleum usage when using the usual foam seat. It also can reduce emissions from the expansion of the skin material into the atmosphere up to 67 percent.

"Soybean itself is derived from existing material in nature, at least dependence on petroleum use could be reduced. Therefore we are slowly developing environmentally friendly products. I hope at sometime in the future, all automotive products already do not use any petroleum-based, "says Debbie Mielewski, Ford Polymer Technical Leader.

To continue to develop friendly products lingkungannnya, Ford also has collaborated with an association of soybean farmers in Arkansas, and cooperating with the United Soybean Board's New Uses Committee, which was noticed all the investment or the development of soybeans in the U.S..

Apart from 2011 and a car Expoler predecessor, the seat of soybeans will also be installed on the Ford Fusion, Fiesta, F-250/F-350 Super Duty, Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ will be launched new.
